Many of you have already register and positively comment the dates of the 1st ChaniaTangoMarathon. It is a fact that late September and beginnings of October are perfect days for visiting Crete.
However the availability on air tickets is not helping us. The most common problem is the big waiting time that the traveler has to spend in Athens airport, until the next flight to Chania.
The only bright exception are the direct flights from Milano. Lucky Milanese tango people can travel directly to Chania and back with 100 euros!

What does travel with ferry means?
The airport of Athens (EL.Venizelos) is very well connected with the port of Athens (Piraeus)
There are buses and trains that directly lead you at Pireaus.
Bus X96, departs every 20 minutes daytime and 40 minutes nightime from the airport's arrivals level (exit 4-5) and arrives in Karaiskakis square, just outside of the port gate, after 1h20min.
From the port of Piraeus every day at 21:00 departs one of the luxury sea vessels of ANEKlines. You can see pictures here
The boat arrives in Chania at 05:30. Depending if you want a cabin, an air seat or economic seat

The journey from Piraeus to Chania is always a great pleasure even for Greek people :)
Please keep in mind that for arriving in Chania the morning of Friday 30 September, you need to travel and arrive in Athens airport in Thursday 29 September, and embark on the same evening the ferry to Crete.
After disembarking in Chania, staff of the CTM will be at port waiting for you and guiding you to your hotel.
